Module 1: About Asana - the 8 limb system

Whether you want to become a teacher or not it is important to become a focused student. Yoga takes a degree of discipline of practice and a desire to delve deeper into the workings of the body, mind, spirit and heart. This module will prepare you for Module 2 or you can take the "Going Deeper" - Transpersonal Yoga Program.

This program can be done as a personal journey or you can use it to work towards becoming a teacher. You can involve yourself in parts of the program or do it all whether you want to be a teacher or not. Please see below for details or call..

The program consists of one weekend per month for the bulk of the program as a group. The rest of the program involves self-study: some reading and assignments, attending asana classes and seeing the director for private sessions twice per month. You can choose to what degree you would like to be involved. (breakdown of program and fees see below) Please come in to speak with Christine about how you can get involved. Please talk to the director of the program.

Breakdown of Program:

Wednesdays from February on: 6:45pm – 8:15pm; (every week)
⇒ Practice, Practice, Practice (practice) – Wednesdays 6:45pm – 8:15pm

Wednesdays from February on: 6:45 - 8:15pm self-practice/full series class

This class is a self-practice (sometimes led) session so that the student may develop and discover the asana (postures) in their own way. Monitored and mentored by the studio director and owner. (This part of the program will begin with the Ashtanga Vinyasa practice and then branch out into other styles.)

Two additional asana classes minimum required.

Fridays from February on: 6:45pm – 8:45pm; (once a month)

Saturdays from February on: 10am – 5pm; (once a month)
⇒ Going Deep (technique)

Saturday 10am – 11am pranayama, chanting, dristi, bandha;
11 – 1pm asana workshop (Yoga U)

This portion of the Saturday class is devoted to discussion and investigation of practice: exploring the physical manifestation of asana, the tones of chanting, technique of Pranayama, and other important aspects of practice.

The weekend in June there is a mandatory residential overnight stay. Program and details to be announced.

⇒ Living Yoga (philosophy) – Saturdays at 2:00pm – 5:00pm

2pm – 5pm philosophy

This class explores some of the different aspects of philosophy, what is YOGA, and on being a student of yoga. There will be reporting and group discussions about the reading assignments, the ethics of yoga, study of the Ashtanga system and the nature of our true selves.

Sundays from February on: 7:00pm – 8:30pm; (once a month)

Sunday from February on: 7pm – 8:30pm meditation

Developing an open and deep relationship to our Divine selves.

*If there are any conflicts we can discuss them at Orientation.

Breakdown of fees for Module 1 for all 10 months (DOES NOT INCLUDE HST):
